The Summer Environmental Education Program in China (with Community Service Track) is a concept of Dr. Chris Huang, who wanted to create a unique summer experience for high-school students to further their exposure to the importance of a sustainable eco-system and provide college enrichment opportunity, which students can subsequently turn into research opportunities or at the very minimum a college essay.

Dr. Huang graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with two bachelor degrees (one in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and other in Aeronautics and Astronautics. After working a year in electronics industry, Dr. Huang went on to Princeton University to pursue a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. Upon graduation, Dr. Huang went on to work in the research division in a major aerospace company, where he rose to Senior Technical Staff and published numerous technical papers and applied and received 3 patents. Along the way, Dr. Huang founded an Internet company and an enrichment center. Currently Dr. Huang is working in the area of energy software and business consulting and is a MIT's Educational Counselor in Long Island.

This program is been handled on the business end by CampDepot.com, which has over 10 years of experience of helping summer camps and programs to market and operate. CampDepot.com provides all of the logistics as well as the billing process.

In China, this program is sponsored by Southwest Jiao-Tung University, one of the best university systems in China. Southwest Jiao-Da is located in ChengDu, which represents a more local flavor of China (than Beijing or Shanghai) while providing all of the amenities of a large city. The school has a well known Environmental Education Department, which will provide the technical content for the summer program.
